 Introduction...

Opening of a numéric Art Network by Pirats nonprofit.

PiRats is a nonprofit, French art association, dedicated to promoting art.

Pirat's founding members, Merlina Rokocoko et Newbab Zsigmond, created a concept that has become a great step forward for art in SL. PiRats offers to artists and designers from all over the world, after they become members of the association, access to PiRat's artistic facilities in SL, along with an accompanying website where they can have a personal space with an unlimited number of pages and slide shows to display their work.

The originality of this project is based on events, such as exhibitions in private sims, as they are added to the galleries the association owns. Artists who are members of PiRats can sell their works with no fees of any kind, as the objective of the association is to promote art in  SL. PiRats is also negotiating for RL exhibitions for SL artists, a fantastic opportunity for the artists.

Promoting artists is a way of life for PiRats - the association has also established for the public a set of residences in an aesthetic environment, with gardens filled with ornate artistic work. Moreover, available for only member artists, is the opportunity to purchase full sims at discounted prices, allowing them to blossom in a place that is made just for them.

Please to contact the charter members for any further information.

Through an initiative inspired by a passion for art and dedicated to sharing, PiRats opens its new venture, with an unlimited potential for SL and RL artists.

Pirats is an association dedicated to providing resources for for artists and artisans of the graphic arts, based on sound, sight, culture and philosophy in the digital realm.

Pirats' philosophy for all its activities is to focus all its efforts on the audience given to designers. In that spirit, PiRates has elected to use a system based on exchange. Pirats is not a production or communication company, and in no way a financial company. Pirats is a grouping of creators. As such, there is no financial connection between the association and the creators represented. No contracts, implicit or explicit, enjoin the creator or their representatives, or the association as a whole.

Pirats currently works in different medias directly, or through specialized partners. Pirats maintains its own website: http://www.pirats.fr, as well as having a presence on Facebook, MySpace and various French and international websites about art. Additionally, Pirats has agreements with some web radios.

The heart of Pirats’ activities centers on metaverses – the 3D web.  Mostly set in Second Life, Pirats rules an entire region dedicated to creation, digital art, photography, music and sculpture, featuring permanent exhibitions, multiple art galleries and a stage for concerts. This  space is totally modular and can be adapted to any specific need for an event. Pirats also manages two independent galleries and presents exhibitions in two other partner galleries. (More information and pictures on http://www.pirats.fr)

As a whole, all of PiRat's SL locations receive in excess of 5,000 visits per month.

Pirats also publishes the online magazine « Artung ». Artung is an electronic magazine presented in both French and English, and it serves to introduce the artists exhibited and the events organized by the association. The magazine is assembled from interviews and information collected via the featured artists or their representatives. The magazine is freely distributed on Internet at: http://artung.pirats.fr) and in Second Life.
